Fitness against migraine

Those who suffer from migraines know how disabling a violent headache can be.

And even those who suffer pain only occasionally do not enjoy much and dream of defeating it.

In extreme cases, therapies are even used to prevent symptoms. Recent research in Sweden has revealed that the best remedy possible, the most effective and able to act in a preventive manner, is physical exercise.

The subjects analyzed suffering from migraine were divided into groups and some of them were asked to perform exercises for about 40 minutes three times a week, while others performed only relaxation exercises and a third group was treated with drugs. 

The results of the first group left no room for doubt: the exercise works more than the tablets.

Of course this also involves all the benefits related to physical activity that are not reduced to the impact on headaches. Furthermore, practically at zero cost, regular walks, a ride on the bike, a bit of movement without incurring expensive medical treatment costs and drugs that are otherwise ineffective are sufficient. If it turns out to be insufficient then you can resort to the doctor, but experimenting the natural way certainly does not harm. In general, in fact, when we exercise our body releases endorphins, which are our natural internal painkillers, we reduce psycho-emotional stress and improve the quality and quantity of sleep and therefore the recovery from daily fatigue, which are fundamental anti-stress factors.

Exercise has numerous health benefits in general and for problems with migraine itself: for example, the results of constant physical activity are similar or superior to drugs for depression reduction – often associated with migraine – because exercise training raises the levels of pain-relieving endorphins, improves the circulation and function of neurotransmitters, hormonal regulation, decreases inflammation, and works as antidepressants by increasing serotonin activation and neurogenesis. It also improves personal efficiency and self-esteem, mood and self-awareness as well as safety and psychological stress, reducing catastrophization and anxiety.

In conclusion

Exercise and Brain “love each other”. The type of exercise and especially the intensity are the key factor that can be controlled with a good program like our Body Harmonizing.
