A Well-designed home gym is a wonderful place at home where you will spend a lot of time building your muscles and taking workouts. However, it’s important you follow some professional tips on how you can set up your home gym, so you do not create an unprofessional home gym.

 Your overall fitness goals matters

The first step you need to consider when you want to set up your home gym is to determine your overall fitness goals. If you are targeting bodybuilding goals instead of cardio training, it makes no sense to invest in cardio equipment. Plan your long-term fitness goals and determine the space and equipment needed to achieve these goals. It’s a good idea to spend time watching around local gyms to see the equipment available for different fitness requirements.

 Choose a space

The area on which the gym is to set up need to be well ventilated and glossy because exercising in the dark and poorly ventilated space is not very pleasant. Determine if you want to listen to music while exercising. The area you choose should not be an area where children play. It is also a good idea to have a graph on the wall where you can plan your working hours. Track the number of exercises you’ve completed as well as your results. This can be a great motivation for you to continue your exercise.

 Flooring

When you’re in the gym, you will sweat a lot, so you have to make the floor clean and odorless. Complex carpet or concrete is a good option. To prevent damage to the floor due to heavy machines, each piece of equipment can be placed on a piece of rug or other material.

Make sure that the equipment you are purchasing has a warranty or a refund guarantee if you find out something you really do not like.

When setting up your home gym, be sure to install each equipment carefully. Make sure you tighten every bolt and nut; otherwise, it might affect the stability of your home gym. Also, you should try to make use of the gym after completing the installation. This will enable you to spot out any error or unstable equipment.

  1. Great Article Franco. If I may ad my personal touch I would suggest the jump rope as a
    low cost cardiovascular exercise, a speed rope will cost you very little around $15-20 and you can do so many types of hops and double unders (double lap), as soon as you combine the double under with other crossfit model functional exercises you will have everything you need for cardiovascular conditioning.

  2. If you have stairs at home you will have a great place to train at no cost! You can perform lunges and step-ups uphill, leaps and jumps, or simple fast ride to climb them. Running at intervals on the stairs is very hard and produces big results! avoid the spiral stairs or those with too small steps if you do not want to hurt yourself.
